“I wanted to reflect my passion to work with other British, sustainable, small businesses by collaborating with as many of them as possible. The beauty of the setting blew me away and I passionately felt the need to fulfill my vision for the space, luckily Bryony was sympathetic to this! I love to mix fresh and faux florals and used this shoot to show the advantage to using them together and how indistinguishable from each other that they can be.”
“I was influenced by the romance of The Barns at Lodge Farm and the current state of dilapidation of some of the buildings. In harmony with a desire to promote British flowers and sustainability and with the location being a working arable farm I chose to create a series of shoots called Celebration of the Seasons. I am enthralled by Paganism and its close connection to Mother Nature and I wanted to use the atmospheric outbuildings to create a wedding photoshoot with a twist – and so the Urban Pagan theme was born!”
Venue – The Barns at Lodge Farm
“The Barns at Lodge Farm is a new wedding and events venue where several barns are currently being renovated, and I wanted to document their dereliction and history/romance before they are refurbished. Sustainability is a key factor in both the way the land is managed as a working arable farm, and also in the way the barns are being developed in a manner which is as sensitive to the environment as possible.”
“The ethos of the venue fit perfectly with the key influences for the shoot, and the changing landscape of the fields throughout the year are an idyllic backdrop for the Celebration of the Seasons.”

“For Autumn, we used all beautiful rich colour tones with dark furniture, gold stands and reflective candelabra and mirrored orange glass. We created an exotic and atmospheric seating area juxtaposed by the hard lines of the farm building. We mixed all the vibrant colours of Autumn, reds, oranges, purples and browns and contrasted this with some bright green accents to pop! Bowls of seed heads, feathers, twigs and small pumpkins were used to soften the tone.”

“Photography and any photoshoot is very special and important to me. Project Urban Pagan was an amazing experience with great team work. I really like to work in nature and that place in nature’s arms has a magic atmosphere so I that could realize many ideas. Everybody brought a piece of their heart into the project.”
Computer Generated Image- Paul Jones Fx
“When Joanna approached me to create a computer generated image that would help set the mood of a fantasy Autumn forest back drop, my 15 years of experience specialising in Visual Effects for film allowed me to create something totally unique for a bridal photo shoot.”
“I spent several weeks creating objects such as gnarled trees , forest debris and plants that i used to set dress a digitally lit environment to create the final still image. The rendered image was projected across a dimly lit atmospheric set and onto the models and the backdrop, resulting in a pleasing and magical Autumn mood that gave the shoot a new depth and tone.”
Flowers Inspiration- V V Raven
“We used oranges, greens, lots of ferns for texture and berries to create a wild and wonderful Autumnal palette. Dried flowers and faux foliage were also used to add to the lush feel.”
Cake Inspiration- Fifi’s Cakery
“Our cakes were influenced by green moss, wooden textures and the hidden jewel colours of Autumn topped with an amazing beautiful hand-cut leaf by Death Rooms.”
Hair and Make up Inspiration- Ieva Genovesi Bridal
“I was inspired by the Autumn theme, so decided to start with the warm, natural glowing makeup for the bride with the magical , long hair . She was as beautiful as a Sunny Autumn day, so decided to enhance her natural beauty and emphasise her best features : eyes and lips. Also added soft highlighter and blusher on her soft skin.”
“For the Second brides look I decided to give a bit more character and went for a glam vintage waves with some strong eyeliner and deep lip colour. Her hair and makeup style only complimented her daring character and showed off her free spirit and great attitude!”
“Third bride represents darker Autumn evenings for the Brides willing to go that extra mile to look different . The dress and followers arrangement had some pattern, colours and wonderful design. So the makeup and hair had to also be different and more edgy. I have decided to go for an off green smokey eye look and mauve matt lip colour. I believe it worked well and matched the grooms eyeliner and his burgundy suit”
“Also we had fun in adding some extra looks that represented the love between a woman and a man, a man and a man , friendships and passion for fashion”
Stationery inspiration- Oopsdoodle
“For the invites and table numbers I went for a moody, gothic take on the traditional theme of autumnal leaves and colours; pairing dark leaf skeletons with a deep burgundy watercolour wash background and modern calligraphy that has a ‘scratchy’ style.”
“For the place names, I want to bring in more colour and a touch of luxury to work with the decent styling of the dining table so I collected freshly fallen autumn leaves in reds and oranges and used gold ink to handwrite the names; there is something very special about beautifully handwritten place cards that never fails to delight your wedding guests.”
Prop Hire- Anthology Vintage Hire
“Deep tones were used with our oak furniture, copper milk churn and our dark green velvet sofa to create a beautiful foil to the autumnal tones.”
Tableware and stands- Party Squared
“Deep toned tableware and stands were used to enhance the Autumnal tablescape.”
Tiaras- Mr Mortimer’s Wife
“For this shoot I used a palette of warm autumnal colours, with leafy headdresses and big, bold chestnut coloured jewels. I also created a dandelion inspired headpiece, and a sumptuous headdress with a ship in rolling seas, inspired by autumn stormy weather!”
Jewellery- Helen C Walls Jewellery
“For this atmospheric Autumn shoot I selected gemstones that were sympathetic of nature’s ever changing palette, from moss agate that appears to feature rusty coloured leaves and forest undergrowth trapped in time, to mysterious labradorite that reminds me of clouded night skies. Molten precious metals were used for several of the wedding bands and cuffs, with the shrivelling of fruits and leaves in mind, creating interesting surface textures.”
Hand-Cut Fresh Leaf- The Deathrooms
“Hand cut Celtic inspired Sycamore leaf …. love doing more intricate patterns and using as many veins to hold it all together”
Peacock and ostrich feather wreath- Plucking Fabulous
“A LABOUR OF LOVE . Each one of our Plucking Fabulous wreaths is lovingly handmade – we painstakingly select only the best and most beautiful feathers for our products.”
